Computer audio, the future of hi-end audio: The future of hi-end audio is high-resolution music played on computers. It is also networks and the ability to play your music anywhere anytime. It looks like that in the next 5 to 10 years plastic CDs will go the way of the dinosaur. Odds are that you already own a computer. This means you are halfway towards a very high quality computer audio solution. With a computer and quality DAC you can outperform high-end CD players that sell for thousands of dollars. We have digital to analog converters from $119, real good ones at $449 and great ones from $999 and up. We can also lead you down a path towards system integration and make recommendations on what computers to use as well as what software to buy to put together a quality computer system. Call us at 770-667-5633 to discuss getting into computer audio as well as how to prepare to do this now when you are ready for the future.

The Acoustic Zen Adagio speakers are superb sonically and competitive with many far more expensive speakers. At only $4,300/pr for the Adagio and $3500/p for the new Junior, they are quite special. Read the 6moons.com review as well as the Stereophile review and then call me to discuss these amazing speakers.

The new Adagio loudspeaker uses a pair of 6.5-inch mid/woofers in a specialized ceramic/textile/ceramic sandwich design for maximum stiffness while minimizing cone breakup, flexing and resonance. An underhung voice coil motor (short coil, long gap) guarantees excellent linearity and a powerful reduction of both harmonic and TIM distortion. Both mid/woofers are loaded into a front-exiting transmission line.

A limited production modified 1.62-inch circular ribbon tweeter has high power handling characteristics along with a linear impedance and phase response. The 0.01mm heat resistant Kapton membrane is almost weightless, providing an immediate and precise response to any transients in the original music signal.

Nominal impedance is 6 ohm, sensitivity is 89dB/W/m, overall frequency response is 30Hz to 30kHz (±3dB). Acoustic Zen cables are also available.

After 3 years of listening at various shows, evaluations in my reference system and reading many reviews, I have now added Audio Space to our product mix. I have been looking for a line to sell as a step up over Jolida for the last few years. The Audio Space products fill this bill nicely. They offer a significant step up from the Jolida line at realistic prices and performance that rivals products that sell for much more. Their Reference products are state of the art.

Audio Space has established a 20-year reputation in Asia for building some of the finest sounding tube electronics. Their Reference 2 preamp was the first Chinese product to get Editors Choice from Harry Pearson at the Absolute Sound.

The integrated amps, preamp and power amp offer unique circuit designs and high end sonics at prices lower than their sound quality would suggest.

Bob Carver releases a new line of vacuum tube amplifiers. We are glad to now be representing the new Bob Carver line of power amps. We have looked for a long time for a hi-end tube line that offers the value that Underwood Hifi demands. These amps fill that bill.  “These amplifiers stand with a small handful of the world’s great vacuum tube amplifiers” says Carver.

The new series of mono block amplifiers are the perfect blend of form and function and the ideal choice for serious music listeners. The Cherry 180 is conservatively rated at 180 watts RMS into 8 ohms, the Black Beauty at 305. Both were designed to drive the most demanding speakers. These two models offer extreme performance that is difficult to believe, and each amplifier features a high impedance input, an automatic DC restorer circuit, a “set and forget” bias adjustment, and low idle current which greatly increases output tube life. They have ultra-wide bandwidth output transformers with interleaved windings capable of the most nuanced voice as well as huge peak output capacity. Selectable feedback control allows the user to change the sound of the amplifier from vintage classical to modern contemporary.

From a listening perspective these amplifiers provide a warm rich sound with a sumptuous and enveloping soundstage, great depth of field and very tight pin-point imaging within that larger acoustic. A special current feedback circuit allows the amplifier to “listen to the room” via feedback from the speakers acting as microphones (using the law of reciprocity). The room-speaker-amplifier interaction provides a sense of believable ambience and acoustic space that is thoroughly realistic and quite enjoyable. Additionally the transformer output impedance allows the signal to follow the impedance curve of the speaker system, allowing more voltage to be delivered to the loudspeaker at very low frequencies – providing an exceptional and satisfying low end response. “Today’s discerning audiophiles listen to a wide variety of content and appreciate the warm, rich sound that vacuum tube amplifiers provide.  Other products found in this price range simply do not compare in overall performance” says Bob Farinelli, President of Bob Carver LLC.

CS-2 reviewer comments:
"I think of how little the Emerald Physics CS2s cost for what they do. This is the world of DSP as it should be. By comparison, the little boxes that people are sometimes paying the Emerald Physics' price for-or even many times that price-seem like toys, unable to offer the power and scale, the dynamics, the top to bottom transparency and the sheer quantity of musical information that the Emerald Physics speakers produce, always with a feeling of complete ease and without demanding much amplifier power. After this, I would find it really hard to go back to little boxes, no matter how good the little box might be nominally. So will you, I think, if you have a vivid memory of concert sound. No speaker is perfect, and perhaps with price-no-object drivers and so on, designer Clayton Shaw could produce even more remarkable sound, albeit at a higher price. But the Emerald Physics CS2 comes remarkably close to putting at your ears the literal sound of the recordings you play on it, via the all-important minimized interaction with your listening room. Good by any standard, at its cost it is quite amazing. A wonderful achievement in speaker design."

"The speakers do very well on intimate music. But it is in large-scaled music-or in smaller-scaled music played in large spaces-that they really distinguish themselves from almost all others."

"The results are startling. My wife Paige, who is not an audiophile but has listened to a lot of speakers (how could she avoid it?), commented upon her first listen: "Oh, so that is what this stereo imaging stuff is about." And indeed the stereo imaging behavior of the Emerald Physics is surprisingly precise-with the blurring arising from room sound largely removed, this is strictly X marks the spot precision."

"This is the real soundstage, not some artifact generated by reflections off the walls of your listening room. The speakers sound as if they were in no room at all, nearly, and the original acoustics are nearly all you hear. The large radiating area in the lower frequencies and the dynamically unfettered upper-frequency driver made the whole sound effortless."

The above quotes are from the December 2008 The Absolute Sound review written by Robert E Green (REG)

"It's extremely difficult to divide up a budget of $6500 (or less-way less) between a single pair of speakers and even a stereo amplifier and find another package that'll combine to outstrip this system under review in most of the criteria that I find important; full extension at the frequency extremes, transparency and immediacy, and dynamic articulation. In fact, I can't think of anything that comes close. So yes, if full-frequency extension, transparency, real-world dynamics and, most of all, truth are what you are looking for in a speaker system, then yeah, you owe it to yourself to hear these giant killers.

All you need to know is that the CS2 sounds great, it plays loudly, it's more dynamic than any speaker I know of around its class and it's got the full frequency extension to keep you happy for years and years. In the end it may be easier to address the type of listener for whom the CS2 may not be the Holly Grail. This listener will probably be looking for aesthetic beauty, likely in a small artfully finished box. He won't care much about full frequency extension and he's not impressed by powerfully extended bass, no matter how well executed-he knows that such considerations are for those lacking in real class and taste. He thinks he's above all that. He's also looking for something with a laid-back presentation because he's not impressed by the realistic dynamics found in live music. He may also be looking for a sweetening through the upper midrange and treble that certainly isn't here. I won't argue with him here because this is one of those areas where I don't find that there's an absolute reference in live music—two different seats in the audience will usually provide two very different realities here. But I will warn him that sometimes laid-back speakers can lack the spark and the excitement that the CS2s routinely convey. They're often not as engaging. In short, this guy's looking for a speaker that tailors music to meet his idea of sonic reality; he's not all that interested in hearing exactly what's recorded on his discs."

The above quotes are from the Positive Feedback review by John Potis.

"Normally, I allow review speakers to break in for at least 100 hours before I do any sort of serious listening. But from the instant the first disc started playing I couldn't help but to pay attention. The CS2s create a presentation that is eerily familiar to The Carver Amazings in that the starting point of the sound comes from such a wide space. It brought a whole new definition and reference to the phrase , wall of sound.

"As he talked about his wish for a large, vaulted television/music room in a log cabin home my thoughts quickly turned to the speaker I'd most want in that space. After three months with the CS2, I knew that they would be my first choice without question. With their ability to create the highly desired wall of sound, and the capability of taking difficult sound spaces out of play (large window-filled walls, etc.) at a price that belies their sonic capabilities it was an easy choice.

The Emerald Physics CS2 may just be the next game changer in the digital music wave."

"To my amazement the CS2s do just what Clayton intended and Walter promoted. The speakers do indeed make a very difficult sound reproducing room sound very good. No, it's not a replacement for my living room, but much better than I thought possible."

Above from the Affordable Audio review.

Emerald Physics:
CS-2 customer comments :
1) Well, so far, they have lived up to my dream of having something "different". The dynamics can be frightening...literally. I can't tell you how many times I've had 'em cranked up and I was startled upright by a drum whack or the like. These are as close to live music in this regard as I have heard. I hear an almost total lack of compression. The only equals are $100,000+ horn speakers like the Acapella's, etc that take up entire rooms. Truthfully, I didn't have a lot of hope with these for classical music playback which, for me, wasn't a big deal because while I do sometimes listen to classical, it's not my main interest. Boy, was I wrong. Pro 15-inch drivers, compression tweeter, and classical music. Who would have guessed- these are amazing on well-recorded classical. I am dumbfounded.

The bottom line is that these things can sound spooky-real on good recordings. Speaking of recordings- there is no question which ones are good and which ones aren't. While the so-so ones are easy to listen to through the CS2's because they (the CS2's) sound so natural, good recordings simply jump to new levels. I have a feeling Clayton will be busy for years to come. I can't wait to read what the Absolute Sound has to say about them.
Jason

2) Son of a Beeeeaaaach!!!!! Stone cold out of the box (Everything) this system BLOWS away anything I have ever heard!! I can't believe it!!!!!!! Happy ass camper, Bob

3) The Bel Canto sounds glorious on the CS-2's....I was able to borrow a few pairs of Kimber Balanced cables to get running...It all sounds excellent even brand new! The Threshold and Quads are S-O-L-D ! Now to pay off some of the bizillion credit cards i used!! ;-)

Playing with position and dcx to taste, but they set up very easily and sound excellent with minimal fuss. You are correct about the sound of these surpassing the Quads, and in just about every regard! No BS!!
-Ken

4) )
I went to Dan Comeau's house today & auditioned his CS2's. Even with mis-matched amps (Ps Audio Trio on bottoms & Mcintosh tube on tops) they sounded fu**in' AWESOME!! I played my K2HD 100khz & 24-bit resolution cd & he played a drum track from a xrcd24 and I was sold!!

5) Further to my initial impressions of the Emerald CS2 as "QUAD ESLs on steroids." The Emerald CS2s are transparent. As I walk about the listening room it is difficult to locate them as part of the soundstage more like they define a very large window on the performers. The articulation of the LF drivers combined with the acoustic output easily reproduces the subtlety and strength of double basses, pipe organs and, not to be that modest, my recordings of a concert Steinway 9' grand.

6) I'm at 250 hours now. The soundstage stretches from wall to wall with every well-recorded song I play. The midrange is oh so perfect. Not sure how to describe it, but all the musicality is in this range. Each note is rich and powerful. The highs and lows of the speakers have wowed me, but the midrange has left me gasping . . . its left me laughing like a school girl at how good the sound is and at times it's just left me wondering if things could possibly get any better.

The lows have become even tighter and more powerful. Listening to Moby Dick by Led Zeppelin is just amazing. The drum solo is like walking through a bomb field in terms of dynamics. The bass sounds so natural and well out of the box . . . it's amazing.

7) I've been trying to describe my CS-2s to friends and other audiophools, and usually end up at a loss for words. Now I can just guide them to JP's review. My only gripe with the review is his reference to "at their price" and the like. Last week I was in El Paso, TX, on business and had the opportunity to listen to the top-of-the-line speakers from B&W and TAD. I spent about three hours with them, and when I got home and gave a listen to the CS-2s with the same music, volume, etc, I was very, very happy with my purchase. To my ears, the CS-2s are cleaner, more dynamic, and just as resolving as either of the well regarded, high priced speakers. I believe the TADs were + $50K and the B&Ws were +/- $24K. By the way, I preferred the TADs over the B&Ws.

8) Wally, So I spent a couple of hours at my local dealer's today, just for fun. Rainy day in Connecticut. He's a good guy, and I've spent some serious change there the last 10 yrs or so. He knows, that I now 'know'. If you know what I mean.

He just became a Magico dealer. I listened to these fed by a ~$40k Krell kit (Diana Krall CD that I also happen to have at home): $25k msrp for speakers. I drove home, about a 3 minute drive, and fired up the same music on the CS2s. You already know the verdict. Love these speakers.

9) I've had my CS2s for a couple of months and have been running them 24/7 - at low levels overnight of course. Just want to say ... I've spent a lot of money ( a lot ) on audio gear over the last 10+ years, but not for the benefit I've enjoyed with the CS2s, not even close.

10) ) I really enjoy the new CS-2 system. I turned the system on this evening. I couldn't believe what I was hearing in the sound stage. It was almost magical.... The sound is substantially better than my Kef 207s in almost every aspect. I find myself enjoying more of my discs and listening longer. I'm really looking forward to the change over the next 300 hours of break in. This system is amazing. To think I contacted you initially for a new player. I'm glad you introduced me to the EP and W4S combo. I'm looking forward to improving my system with more of your recommendations.

11) It's probably nothing new to you. Totally amazing. Sounded better than my old gear ($15,000.00 speakers / $6,000.00 amp) instantly. After a few hours it's already settling in & singing with stock power cords and not plugged into my dedicated power so much improvement is still to come.

Any one who wants / asks you to have a listen you have them call me or whatever arrangements. I'd be glad to show them the giant killers. I was not expecting too much as the system I heard at Bill's was a little better setup and positioned etc, and broken in also, but hey. No kidding these are great.

12) WOW!!! I feel like my "former" system, with its Talon Ravens, may have stretched me into the outer reaches of the Milky Way and I just got teleported to Andromeda (read: another altogether other galaxy). SCOTTY! WE NEED MORE DI-LITHIUM CRYSTALS!!!

I am struck by the openness and clarity of the sound. It's like the entire wall is a speaker. The Ravens, in comparison, feel like the sound was coming from tiny points. I heard stuff I never heard before. And to think they are only going to get better. Man alive, they sound superb.

13) I have been an audio lover for 30 years, and in that time I have enjoyed some pretty excellent gear, but this is the first time I have ever felt compelled to sit down and write a testimonial. As you know, I am referring to the Emerald Physics CS2s. Since 1980 I have owned exclusively planar speakers, including Beveridge 2SW-2, Magnepan 1.6, and Magnepan 3.6. I've listened to many high end conventional speakers in people's homes and audio showrooms, but I kept coming back to the openness and transparency of the panels. But even as much as I loved the sound of my most recent system, I felt there was still a dimension missing, and I couldn't quite put my finger on it. The audiophile's curse.

Then I read about these emerald Physics DSP-controlled open baffle directional speakers. Based on the descriptions, it seemed to me that what people were describing was what I was missing. For 6 months I tried to stop thinking about them, because I didn't really want to change out my system, but I finally gave in and called you. You were so candid and generous with your time, so I took the leap and ordered a pair of CS2s, hoping they would actually be that missing link, but knowing that, worst case, I could return them and take a not too horrible loss.

I have now been listening to the CS2s for two weeks. I am driving my wife, who is also an audio lover, a little crazy at times because I can't pull myself away from them. Just one more song-and then just one more song-etc., into the wee hours. (Don't get me wrong - she loves them almost as much as I do!) These speakers are REMARKABLE. I have never heard such a NATURAL, THREE DIMENSIONAL presentation of recorded music. No matter how many words I could add to the description, that is what I keep coming back to. Yes they offer exquisitely fine detail with no hardness or edge. Yes they deliver 20hz bass with no boominess or puffiness. Yes the midrange is full and vast. And yes, they can play surprisingly loud without losing any sense of dynamics or control - and, interestingly, without causing fatigue. But really, it comes down to just sounding more like real music than anything else I have heard. And in that I find pure joy. So Walter, thank you -- and thanks to Clayton -- for bringing this new realm of enjoyment into my life.

14) Walter, the more I listen to these speakers, the more I'm impressed. If I could sum it up in a sentence or two I would say; they have the best qualities of Magnepan's and Klipsch with a good subwoofer to boot. They are dynamic like Klipsch but pure and refined like a Magnepan with a ribbon tweeter. I can't believe how dynamic these things are. You can listen to them really loud without fatigue.

15) I am thoroughly enjoying the speakers. They have around 30 hours on them and they get better all the time. This leaves me wondering how good they can be. I am thrilled with the bass. Also, the soundstage is addictive. I toed the speakers in a bit more and the stage stretches the width of my room. Absolutely remarkable!

The science behind all this excitement:
1) Eliminating the Room: Emerald Physics has developed a method to control a speaker's dispersion pattern in order to minimize room interactions and thereby eliminate most of the room's sonic signature. Our patent-pending BDC (Broadband Directivity Control) technology is a turning point in the history of loudspeaker design. Until now, speaker/room interaction has been one of the major problems in home audio systems. Conventional speakers have wide dispersion and an omni directional pattern in the bass range, sending large amounts of sound energy toward the room boundaries, which are reflected back into the listening space with a time delay. These are known as early reflections, which color the sound of the original signal. The omni-directional bass pattern also excites room resonances in all three axis which tends to cause the boomy, ill-defined bass commonly experienced in many systems. The solution is to create a speaker with a more narrow dispersion pattern as well as a more consistent dispersion angle across the frequency spectrum. Listening to mainly the loudspeaker's direct field eliminates most of your room's sound, creating a consistent and natural playback performance even in difficult rooms.

2) Eliminating the Box: Emerald Physics uses a boxless design approach called open-baffle dipole in order to achieve several important improvements over conventional loudspeakers:
  • Eliminates box sound – preserves the pitch and harmonic beauty of instruments.
  • Eliminates deep bass limits – Flat response to 20Hz (CS2.3) with 2.75 inch thick baffle.
  • Eliminates impedance swings – Maintains same impedance curve as raw woofer.
  • Eliminates large expense of box enclosure – typically the most expensive component in the speaker.

3) Eliminates the peaks & troughs in frequency response: Most loudspeaker systems are rated at plus or minus 3dB. This equates to a 6dB range at any give area in the frequency response as measured in an anechoic chamber. Once placed in a listening room, it is not uncommon to see 20dB variations. The CS2.3 & CS3 exhibit an extremely accurate response of plus or minus ½ dB from 100 Hz to 20,000 Hz. This high level of accuracy is achieved through the use of the included signal processor, which provides equalization via our custom software. Multiple preset files allow configurations to be chosen for specific room placement locations for optimum performance in most any room.

4) Eliminating Intermodulation & EMF Distortion Products: When a speaker system uses just one channel of amplification to drive multiple speaker devices, additional distortion is produced in the audio reproduction chain. Some of this distortion is due to the amplifier trying to produce a wide bandwidth of information and some of the distortion is a by-product of the electro-motive force (EMF) produced by the speaker cone which is sent back to the amplifier. The CS2.3 uses bi-amplification to substantially reduce both the EMF distortion and the IM distortion produced in most systems. The use of a digital electronic crossover in the bi-amping path, allows the speaker driver and amplifier dedicated to that driver to only amplify the frequencies needed for that driver. By having one amplifier responsible for the low frequencies and one amplifier responsible for the high frequencies, the amplifier for the tweeters does not reproduce low frequencies and the low frequency amplifier does not try and reproduce high frequencies. This makes both the tweeter and woofer amplifiers cleaner and more efficient in reproducing music.

5) Eliminating Dynamic Compression: In a perfect world, a speaker would be able to play as loud as required with totally accurate tracking of the musical information as it gets louder. Unfortunately, in the quest for low frequency performance, many speaker designs sacrifice dynamics and efficiency for low bass response. This lack of efficiency creates a sound field that does not always reproduce each bit of musical information correctly. It is one of the reasons that many speaker systems sound out of balance when they play loud or the speaker is required to reproduce a large musical peak. By using several techniques including very efficient professional speaker components, multiple 15" woofers (CS2.3) (CS3 uses a single 12"), coaxial midrange/ compression tweeters and bi-amping, efficiency is maximized. This not only makes the speaker system efficient, it also maximizes the use of power from the amplifiers by requiring each amplification channel to only amplify those signals needed by the speaker driver it is connected to.

6) Eliminating the Need for Expensive Electronics & Cables: Both the CS3 & CS2.3 are very accurate reproducers of sound. Many speakers, due to their designs, require the need for very expensive electronics to achieve satisfactory performance. Conventional designs have problems with the impedance of the drivers due to mechanical and electrical resonances and the passive crossovers used. As mentioned earlier, passive crossovers are power-robbing components. The CS2.3 maximizes power transfer. With bi-amping in the CS2.3 and the 48 B slope of the digital crossover, the listener utilizes all of the power available from the amplifier in a 100dB efficient design. (The CS3 is a single amp speaker and is still 95dB efficient). The high frequencies are not harsh or strident and therefore, the need for a softer sounding tube amplifier is not required for the tweeters. The need for expensive cables that filter out high frequency information is also not required. The need for 200 pound amplifiers with huge power transformers is not necessary since the CS2.3 & CS3 are both very efficient and do not require the large amounts of power that expensive amplifiers offer into low impedances. In fact, you may find that you will spend hundreds of dollars per channel rather than thousands of dollars per channel to drive the CS2.3.

"If I was shopping within this price class I can't think of any speakers that I could audition along side of the CS2s that would outshine them when it comes to immediacy, clarity, articulation and full frequency response."

"So yes, if full-frequency extension, transparency, real-world dynamics and, most of all, truth are what you are looking for in a speaker system, then yeah, you owe it to yourself to hear these giant killers." -
review

"My thoughts quickly turned to the speaker I'd most want in that space. After three months with the CS2, I knew that they would be my first choice without question. With their ability to create the highly desired 'wall of sound', and the capability of taking difficult sound spaces out of play (large window-filled walls, etc.) at a price that belies their sonic capabilities it was an easy choice." - review [see page 19]

The new Emerald Physics CS3 is a digitally controlled open baffle point source loudspeaker designed for smaller room. It can be run with one amplifier and placed as close as 2 feet from the rear wall. The CS-3 continues the revolution in high performance loudspeakers started by the original CS-2.

The CS-3 is a completely optimized, digitally equalized, open baffle 12-inch two way design with a point source 12-inch coaxial driver that runs from 32Hz-22Khz. It generates a realistic sonic picture, while operating mostly independent of the room's acoustics.

The CS-3 was designed for listeners in rooms under 2000 cubic feet who want a smaller room solution than the new CS-2.3. The CS3 can also be run with a single amp versus the need to biamp the larger and more powerful CS-2.3. It can be placed as close as 2 feet from the rear wall so it can work in very small rooms and very close to side walls.

Reviews and user comments on the CS-2 were superb. Now the bar is raised with improved sonics as well as much upgraded cosmetics. In the right room the CS-3 will outperform the older CS-2 with its better midrange coherency and superb imaging. The CS-3 is like a mini monitor with high efficiency (95dB) and bass extension to 32Hz.

The average audiophile can now listen to a small, full range, open baffle speaker system that they never thought possible at even close to this price. In addition, the new cosmetics are a major upgrade from the original CS-2. CS-3s are $2995 a pair in Black. The optional wood finish is $450 a pair and available in Cherry, Maple and Mahogany. They are only sold Internet Direct and come with a 30 day in home trial. We also offer discounts for full system purchases if you need amps and associated components as well as speakers.

The Revolution continues. I am very happy to introduce the new Emerald Physics CS-2.3 digitally controlled open baffle loudspeaker. The CS-2.3 continues the revolution in high performance loudspeakers started by the original CS-2. Reviews and user comments on the CS-2 were superb. Now the bar is raised with improved sonics as well as much upgraded cosmetics. The average audiophile can now listen to a speaker system that they never thought possible at even close to this price.

I heard the original CS-1 prototypes at the Rocky Mountain Hifi Show and they were the best sounding speakers there bar none. At $8,000 a pair they were 1/10th the price of other highly regarded speakers. The new CS-2.3 is half of that price and a better speaker. It easily outperforms the discontinued CS-2 in all sonic areas. It offers more coherent midrange, better imaging, improved bass extension and even more dynamics than the CS-2. Cosmetics are also dramatically upgraded.

The CS-2.3 is a completely optimized, digitally bi-amplified, open baffle loudspeaker system that generates a hugely realistic sonic picture, while operating mostly independent of the room's acoustics. The power of the above synergy is evident in the final product. A speaker system that is untouched at anywhere near its price.

The finished product is a 2.5 inch deep, 48 inch high speaker that is 18.5 inches wide. It is flat from 20Hz-22Khz +/-1.5 db. From 100Hz to 20Khz it is flat plus or minus 1/2 of a dB! Oh, by the way, it is 100dB efficient. It portrays an open out-of-the-box sound that you have to hear to believe. Once you listen to open baffle "boxless" bass, you may never want to listen to a box speaker again. The new Aperture Bass Propagation loading technology used gets us over 4dBmore bass output than the CS-2. The coincident point source midrange tweeter is a major upgrade over the CS-2. The new speaker is a 3-way biamped design with crossovers at 100Hz, from subs to midrange and 900Hz from mid to tweeter.

In addition, the new cosmetics are a major upgrade from the original CS-2. CS-2.3s are $4795 a pair in Black. The optional wood finish is $600 a pair and available in Cherry, Maple and Mahogany. They are only sold Internet Direct and come with a 30 day in home trial. We also offer discounts for full system purchases if you need amps and associated components as well as speakers. We will ship worldwide into countries without a local distributor.

T
he Emerald Physics CS1.3 was designed to establish a modern reference standard for music playback and home cinema. Emerald Physics has effectively broken through most of the barriers inherent in conventional loudspeaker design. The CS1.3 represents the next generation of thinking for speaker design in the 21st century.

The CS-1.3 is a larger and far more sophisticated version of the CS2.3 that has been our biggest seller. The CS2.3 replaced the CS2 that received all the spectacular reviews. The CS1.3 is a major step up over the CS2.3 and is an all-out attempt to make a speaker that will compare to anything made at any reasonable price. The CS1.3 is a boxless, open-baffle dipole speaker whose sole purpose is to be a perfect monitor of the incoming signal. Not only is the CS1.3 superbly accurate in its response, it delivers this accuracy to the listener intact by minimizing room interaction through its patent-pending directivity control technology.

High performance state-of-the-art transducer components are used throughout, providing commanding authority and speed across the music spectrum. High-efficiency and ultra-wide dynamic range eliminates signal compression allowing a view into the original event. The CS1.3's open-baffle, dipole bass system is powered by two 18-inch extremely long-throw woofers per speaker which generate powerful yet articulate reproduction of music's lower registers while greatly reducing the room interaction common to box speakers. These woofers are not only larger than the CS-2.3 drivers but they have an xmax (excursion) that is 2.5 times that of the woofer in the CS-2.3. This is like having 8 x CS-2.3 woofers per speaker. A state of the art European custom coaxial midrange-tweeter handles all frequencies over 90Hz. This makes the CS-1.3 a biamplified 3-way design. The new CS1.3 constrained-layer baffle is much heavier duty than the CS2.3. This new CS1.3 speaker weighs 160 pounds each whereas the CS2.3 is 70 pounds each.

Frequency linearity is unprecedented at +/- 0.5dB from 50Hz-22kHz. A beautifully clear and natural picture of the recorded music event is made possible by the integration of many forward thinking solutions into one precision instrument. These solutions are:

  • Controlled Directivity: Eliminates most room interaction. Provides outstanding soundstage reproduction.
  • Open-Baffle Bass: Unmasks the bass range to uncover the real instrument with real pitch accuracy. Eliminates most room mode excitation.
  • DSP Signal Processing: The brains of the system controls frequency and phase linearity, crossovers and driver time-alignment functions. Multiple preset files for installation flexibility.
  • High Efficiency Transducers: The CS1.3's 98 dB sensitivity provides effortless, low distortion reproduction of music's dynamic scale.
  • The CS-1 is 98dB sensitivity and has frequency response of 15Hz-22Khz. From 50Hz thru 20Khz it is +/- 1/2dB.

The modified crossover has 5 different files for placement from 3-7 feet from the rear wall to help optimize the bass performance in most rooms. Dynamics are extraordinary and imaging is wall to wall and as deep as it gets. Tonal balance is exceptionally accurate and the CS-1.3 sounds like live music. I know of no speaker at anywhere close in price that is even in the same league. It was designed to compete with speakers that sell for three or four times.

The CS1.3 is easy to drive and can sound great with even reasonably priced electronics. The CS1.3 sells for $14,990/pr with the included digital crossover in black, cherry or mahogany wood finish. We expect that many CS1.3s will sell with the new Spatial Computer system. This audiophile computer-based solution includes full phase and frequency room correction as well as software-based digital crossovers, a mastering quality EQ, all system DACs (8 channels) and preamplifier. Just hook it up to two amplifiers and the CS1.3 speakers for state of the art performance. CS1.3 specs can be seen here:

Gini Systems: The basic monitor speaker is a direct copy of the famous British LS3/5A broadcast monitor that sells today for $1500/pr. At only $590/pr, they are a superb value. They come in a real wood cabinet and sound great for under $600. The B+ Bass/Stand addition can be added at anytime for $630/pr. It is what makes the system really special. The system becomes a real full range speaker package that goes to the mid 30Hz bass range. This package is superb at this price. Imagine a quality monitor system with stands and woofers for under $1200. We know of nothing that will touch it for the price. Call us to discuss this superb speaker value.
  • Gini Systems LS-3/5A monitors $590/pr
  • B+ Bass Stands for the LS3.5A $630/pr (both the speaker and B+ bass stands now come with black grills to update the cosmetics to a more contemporary look

Stereomojo just gave the speaker their Maximum Mojo award. They summed up with: "What exactly do you get with the Gini system? The Gini monitors offer 97-98% of what the current BBC (or BBC styled) selections do in the mid-band and top end, and at a THIRD or less of their asking price. Here is the kicker. Add the B+ Bass Stands into the mix, and you get 100% of what those posh monitors DO NOT offer - bass. Not just bass, but presence and weight to the music, an entirely different listening experience. If I could sum up how well the Gini LS3/5a did I would have to say outstanding. If there are any sins of this little monitor, they are of omission, rather than commission. What they do, they do VERY well. Recommended for small rooms."

Because of their outstanding performance at a low price point, the GINI LS5/3a with the B+ Bass Cabinets have earned our highest Stereomojo Maximum Mojo Award.

Graham Slee Projects is a specialist manufacturer of phono preamp stages and headphone amplifiers under the brand name GSP Audio. Their range of products is the result of a life long enthusiasm for vinyl from a designer who made his first phono preamp back in 1975. You can buy a bland-sounding phono preamp elsewhere for a few dollars, or spend a couple of thousand on one that'll "take your head off". Every phono preamp in the GSP range sounds good. The $999 Era Gold MKV preamp [$1,999 with Elevator EXP] is the star performer. It pulls more music out of the groove than you ever thought possible. For under $1,000, the Era Gold is an amazing value and now also a Stereophile Class A-rated giant killer. For low output moving coil fans, there is the Elevator range of step-up amplifiers. The EXP is specifically designed for use with the Era Gold bringing you the best MC combo on the market for under $1700. Two more models cater for owners of valve (tube) phono sections and preamps with built-in MM phono stages. The Amp 2SE phone section just became available for under $400.00 and is another great value.

Every Graham Slee product requires a "burn-in" period and is designed to be constantly powered-on.

  • "The Era Gold + Elevator EXP is the best phono combination for MC's I've ever heard - period" [Geoff Husband, TNT-Audio, July 2002]
  • "...the one the others have to beat" [Hi-Fi Plus, July/Aug 2003]
  • "...Graham Slee's miraculous Era Gold MkV phono preamp" [Michael Fremer, Stereophile, Jan 2004]
  • "... its sound has wings"[5-Star Test Winner, What Hi-Fi?, Feb 2004]

Dan Wright of Modwright has been building very high-quality high-value products now for about 8 years. The SWL9.0SE preamp was a superb first product that received many great reviews. It brought true high end performance to a price point not touched before. The 9.0 has now been discontinued and replaced by the new LS100. The statement LS-36.5 at $5495 and with 36.5 power supply at $9995 are superb preamps that set the standard for balanced tube preamps in their respective price ranges. The 4 power amps listed below are superb and are receiving amazing reviews. A new standalone phono stage and DAC will be out in the near future.

The new KWI 200 integrated amp is now shipping. It is Dan's first integrated and a typical Modwright high-value product conservatively rated to deliver 200wpc into 8 ohms and 400 watts into 4 ohms. Other manufacturers would be selling this for $7500 and telling you what a great value it is. Dan is at $4995. It also has a phono stage & DAC option (24/192 asynchronous USB/coax). If you are looking for a simple very high performance solution to enjoying music, the KWI 200 is it.

The KWI has a full function remote for volume, mute, power, input select, remote triggers, DAC input select as well as MM or MC phono inputs (both optional). The ual digital displays are clearly visible from across the room to indicate source input and volume level. Displays may be remotely dimmed or turned off. Manual controls are simple - two knobs and two buttons. Power, home theater bypass (or preamp-input) button, source select and volume control knobs complete the interface.

The KWI 200 uses a digitally controlled analog volume control with buffered input to the Solid State Music Stage found in all of ModWright amplifiers. This allows for a volume control superior to standard potentiometers and a single gain stage direct-coupled to the current amplified output stage for ultimate sonic purity. Power is via Mosfets and a 1.5KVA power transformer with over 234,000 microfarads total capacitance. The KWI therefore offers incredible current reserves to drive nearly any speaker. The KWI is simple, pure, elegant and powerful. The KWI 200 is proudly handcrafted in the U.S.A.

In the January 2010 Abso!ute Sound review Dick Olsher says: "My stance to date can be summarized as follows: No rain, no rainbow; no tubes, no tube magic. In view of the KWA 150, I’m willing to modify my position somewhat. It doesn’t quite fool me into mistaking it for a tube amp. But I can’t believe that I’m listening to a bipolar solid-state amp with suave mids and imaging magic. It’s hard for me to curb my enthusiasm in the presence of a sonic miracle. To my ears, the KWA 150 represents a smashing success, combining the musicality of tubes with the punch, power delivery, and bass reach of transistors. Factor in the performance and looks of this amp relative to its asking price and the result is a fantastic value. Kudos to ModWright for delivering the sonic goodies, while avoiding sticker shock. Buyer beware: Once auditioned, this amp is hard to walk away from." Read the entire review.

The 6moons review on the KWA-150 included the following summary: "Dan Wright's first-ever amplifier strikes me as a very fine achievement. With the matching DM 36.5, it really does have the makings of a best-of-both world where tone and grip, finesse and power, textures and transients coexist and noise, drive and power tube issues don't factor in at all. Should the competition be worried? I should think so!" [Srajan Ebaen, 6moons.com]. Read the entire review.

Peachtree Audio is a young company founded by Signal Path, the ex US importer of Musical Fidelity. The founders have over 150 years of combined industry experience. Peachtree is dedicated to offering hi-value/hi-performance audio products at prices that are more far affordable than their hi-end competition. Hi-end performance at mainstream prices. All their products have received excellent reviews. The Nova was Stereophile Budget Component of the Year and the iDAC was Stereophile Class A rated in the Oct 2011 issue. The iNova got a Blue Moon Award on 6moons. Peachtree is a leader in computer audio and already on their 4th generation of products while other companies are just starting to learn what it takes to make computers sound great for hi-end audio

The Grand Pre ($2.995) is a full-featured state-of-the-art control center with cutting edge digital-to-analog conversion and digital connectivity designed for the modern day music listener. Key features are:
  • Reference ESS Sabre32 DAC knocks down jitter to <1 picosecond for accurate sound reproduction. It will your CD player or transport and make your computer sound great.
  • Galvanic isolation eliminates noise generated by switching power supplies in source components. This is perfect to make your computer a state of the art playback device.
  • New asychronous 24/192 USB input provides the best connection between computer and DAC.
  • Superb preamp w/VCA gain control for minimal noise & cross talk replaces the commonly used potentiometer.  Greater than 0.025dB channel balance for great imaging.
  • Bascom King tube-buffered preamp rejuvenates poor recordings & compressed audio

The heart of the Grand Pre is the top-of-the-line ESS Sabre32 9018 specialized for computers or other sources that deliver high levels of timing errors. The ESS Sabre³² DA's patented jitter-reduction circuit reclocks the digital signal to less than one picosecond before passing it through its high-resolution processor. The Peachtree USB is the highest quality connection possible for your computer. It is 24/192 capable, accepting 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4, and 192kHz sampling rates, and uses the latest in asynchronous I2S communication. Asynchronous allows the Grand Pre’s internal high-precision clock to control the flow of data from the computer. This method lowers incoming jitter so the Sabre DAC has less timing errors to reclock. The galvanic isolated input eliminates noise generated by your computer’s switching power supply and greatly improving the sound quality.

The very exceptional balanced preamp is designed to maintain the quality of both analog & digital-to-analog conversion through a short signal path avoiding noise and signal loss. A dual mono gain control is used measuring .025dB channel to channel to create pinpoint imaging for a virtual 3D soundstage. Its large power supply assures wide dynamics and black backgrounds that are created by the discrete class A output stage with up to 18V output. The preamp offers 6 digital inputs, 2 analog inputs as well as a pair of balanced inputs. It has a home theater pass thru to allow multi channel compatibility. There are 3 pair of outputs, 2 RCA and one balanced. One of the two sets of RCA outs also has an 80Hz hi pass filter for biamping. It also has a fine headphone amp.

The Grand Pre employs a Bascom King hybrid tube design using two musically legendary 12AX7s. The tube buffer will smooth the harsh digital edge found in poor recordings and compressed audio. A tube bypass button, found on the remote control, allows for solid state or hybrid tube listening modes. This is also possible when using the built-in high-performance headphone amplifier.

The new Peachtree iNova is a major upgrade to their Nova, the Stereophile Product of the Year. This new product was redesigned and makes improvements in all areas. The improvements in the iNova are:

  1. A higher resolution 32-bit Hyperstream ESS Sabre DAC which works up to 24-bit/192k on coax S/PDIF. The USB now gives you 24/96 resolution directly from your computer.
  2. A new redesigned preamp with a Russian 6N1P tube buffer gives the iNova a greater sense of three-dimensional sound and a more detailed soundstage.
  3. The amp was fitted with upgraded capacitors making it more dynamic and punchier in the bass region.
  4. The new iPod dock allows you to experience pure digital sound from your iPod and now digital music sounds as good as a quality CD player right thru an iProduct.

These changes result in improved dynamics, transparency, bass response and resolution. The older Nova was rated Class B by Stereophile and the new iNova is considerably better. The iNova features an 80wpc amplifier, class A tube preamp, high-resolution digital-to-analog converter, class A headphone amplifier and a pure digital iPod dock.

The iNova takes the best from the award-winning Nova and improves it! The upgrades are notable if you want the very best from your CD player,  iPod,  computer audio or from streaming devices like Apple TV, Sonos and many others now on the market. The iNova preamplifier section employs a class A 6N1P tube output stage that smoothes the harsh digital edge. You can run a separate amplifier or subwoofer from the pre-outs if more power or bass is needed. The preamp maintains a high level of detail while taming digital music regardless of codec. The iNova features a 24/96 USB input for your computer plus two coaxial and two optical inputs delivering up to 24bit 192k resolution for other digital sources like CD players, Squeezebox, Apple TV, Airport and Sonos.

It also offers two analog inputs for SACD/CD players, phono preamps, docking stations or tape decks. The iNova preamplifier covers the bases like no other product! The preamp is then coupled with an 80wpc Mosfet amplifier in the final stage, achieving a highly musical "analog" sound.  $1799.00

The Peachtree Audio DACiT [$449] is an inexpensive very high quality D/A converter designed to bring your audio system into the new millennium using the computer you already own. While optimized for computer and streaming audio music devices, the DACiT features the three most important digital inputs, USB for your computer, optical and coaxial for any other type of streamer or CD/DVD player. All three inputs take advantage of the high-resolution ESS Sabre 9022 DAC chip and Peachtree exclusive hot-rodded analog output section. This eliminates the need for expensive sound cards and effectively replaces the weak analog output section built in to streaming devices. For a little added convenience, a remote control with discreet input selection is included with the DACiT. Unlike CD transports, computers and streaming devices tend to present a rather harsh musical environment with a unique set of challenges. The Peachtree DACit is specifically designed for this environment and is optimized to handle these challenges.
1) The DAC is galvanically isolated, which is necessary when dealing with electrical noise generated by a computer's USB output. Elimination of this noise via USB is among the most important reasons that the USB section performs so well.
2) Reclocks any digital signal to less than 3 picoseconds of jitter (digital timing errors). This is super low jitter and can be 1000 times lower than a typical computer and 100 times less than many CD players.
3) The DaciT's USB input accepts data up to 24/96 to handle high-resolution audio downloads.
4) Streaming devices can be attached to the DACiT via optical or coax which is also transformer coupled to prevent superfluous noise from entering the signal path. The DAC*iT thinks they are all high-end CD players. So if you have an Apple TV, Sonos or other streamer that you want to hook up to your existing system, the DAC*iT is your ticket to performance.

The Peachtree Audio Nova is a world-class 80wpc integrated amplifier with enough digital (5) and analog inputs (3) and outputs (2) to satisfy all the new digital devices plus handle a few of the old dogs like turntables (w/external phono preamp), tuners etc. It performs much like a high-end integrated amplifier because that’s what it is. The Class A tube based preamp is coupled with an A/B amplifier in the final stage to achieve a very analog sounding product.

The Nova has a USB input for your computer in addition to 2 coax, and 2 optical inputs for other digital sources like Squeezebox, Apple TV, Wadia iTransport, Airport, Sonos, and XM or Sirius tuners. It also has 3 analog inputs for docking stations, CD players, tape decks or phono preamps. If you want to add a subwoofer or outboard amplifier, there's a pre-out. The preamp section employs a 6922 tube with a Class A output stage. It offers both a variable preamp and fixed line output. There is also a very fine headphone amp included. Whether it's digital or analog. the Nova will make it sound great.

Maybe the most unique Nova feature is the onboard ESS 9006 Sabre DAC. It’s a 24/192 upsampling D/A converter, which transforms just about any digital source to the performance of a high-end CD player. The ESS Sabre DAC’s patented jitter reduction circuit reclocks the digital signal to almost 0 jitter before passing it through a high-resolution 24/192 upsampling processor that’s also capable of 122dB S/N ratio. This is unheard of in any D/A converter until now and out-specs anything from any other DAC on the market. But the DAC chip is only part of the story because the surrounding electronics are extremely important. We employ 11 regulated power supplies for the DAC and transformer-couple each digital input stage so noise associated with ground problems and switching power supplies is eliminated. The USB connection is very unique. It is galvanically isolated from the computer connection. This is very important because significant noise generated by the computer’s switching power supply travels down the USB ground and manifests itself as a major source of jitter. We eliminate it before the DAC sees it..

The bottom line is, we know of no D/A converter on the market at any price that will better the Nova ESS D/A converter in bench tests and to our ears. To match the performance of the D/A alone would be much more expensive than the price of the entire Nova. These are lofty claims, but can be backed up by the technical specifications and listening tests. The gauntlet has been dropped…

Use the Nova as a D/A converter in your current system. If you’re thinking about adding a high-end D/A converter to your current system between $3,500-$10,000, you would serve yourself well to audition the Nova first. The Nova features a fixed line out so it can be used as a “remote switchable D/A converter” that can be added to any local or whole-house audio system to handle and improve any digital source. It’s also a great way to add a PC or Mac Mini to your existing system.

The Nova is also an excellent preamp/DAC/headphone amp when used with a separate high power amplifier. It offers amazing performance for the price. Available in Black Lacquer, Rosewood or Cherry cabinets - $1199

D

Exact Power and PS Audio pioneered the concept but only PurePower AVPS with integral backup battery power has taken it to its ultimate conclusion - the best power regeneration/voltage stabilization solution extant.

"So how did the system sound? All I can say is WOW!!! On two-channel SACDs and computerized digitized reproductions of studio analog tapes from the 50s and 60s the sound was unbelievable, the best my system has sounded in its 28 years of existence. And the sound has not varied by day, time of day or programming. In other words the units have cleaned up the electricity to the point where its quality never varies. I’ll be selling off all of my other AC filters and I suggest you do the same and purchase one or more of these units before they are inundated with buyers as their supplies of the units are limited."

"Auditioner beware: after hearing this level of performance improvement, there is no way I can live without PurePower in my system. The APS PurePower 1050 provides improved sound, a picture improvement that has to be seen to be believed, and unparalleled safety for your pricey display and electronics. The PurePower 1050's sonic and video improvements eclipse the impressive feats I remember vividly while evaluating the Exact Power EP15A. Enthusiastically endorsed." Bryan Southard, AudiovideoRevolution.com, Feb 2005

"I found the 1050 to be a very effective product that is very easy to install and use. Given the fact that it is a solid, well made product and has such flexibility for installation, it becomes that much more attractive. Once in place, it is very easy to forget that it is in the system at all. Remove it and you will realize just what clean power means to your system. I am not aware of any other power line regenerator that has all of the capabilities of the APS 1050. Considering price, performance, technology and style, the Audiophile APS PurePower 1050 Power Conditioner receives my highest recommendation." Henry Wilkenson, Audiophila, March 2005

REL has been making the best sounding audio subs for many years. Their unique crossover allows for a great match with quality speakers for a seamless sonic blend. Reviews have all been extraordinary. REL allows users to hook up both audio and video products at the same time. Their unique Speak-on connector hooks right to your amp's speaker binding posts for perfect timing with your main speakers. Amazingly REL even makes the midrange on high-quality speaker’s sound better.

The new REL Series T subs are a major upgrade over the older T series. They have better larger amps, upgraded drivers and nicer cabinets. We have amazed customers at shows with the $999 200-watt T7. It makes superb bass and has the dynamics any quality audio system needs. The larger T9’s 10” driver & 300-watt amp adds even more weight for only $200 more. Even the little T5 has received great press and makes a great add-on in smaller spaces.

• T5 8” 125 watts $699
• T7 8” 200 watts with 10” PR $999
• T9 10” 300 watts with 10” PR $1199

The Series R is for larger more expensive speakers and rooms. The new carbon fiber cast frame woofers and upgraded power amps produce even more dynamics, extension and explosive bass. The entry R218 is designed for 2-ch. systems with speed and finesse. The larger R328 and R528 take no prisoners. The R328 puts out higher quality bass than the older 505 that was $200 more. And it plays a little louder. The R528 is superb in applications that want big dynamics for both audio and video applications. It makes 6dB more bass than the older R505 and is only $300 more. This is one great sounding sub and I own one myself.

• R218 $1399 10” sealed box with 250-watt amp
• R328 $1799 10” active with 12” PR and 350-watt amp
• R528 $2299 12” active with 12” PR and 500-watt amp

The new G Series is only 2 models but they are REL’s new statement products. G subs offer superb bass from large woofers for the best systems. The G1 mates a 600-watt high-current amp to a 12” ultra long-throw carbon fiber driver. Optional rails allow stacking G1s for those huge rooms where even more bass is required. The G2 is the little brother with a 450-watt amp driving a 10” ultra long-throw carbon fiber woofer.

• G1 $4499 12” cast driver in large box with 600-watt amp
• G2 $3499 10” cast driver in large box with 450-watt amp

Other models include the statements that use REL’s ARM loading technology.

The future of high-end audio is here now! It's amazing and not expensive. Imagine outperforming $15 - $20K high-end electronics with an investment of as little as $2.995. Imagine listening to your audio system at a level of realism you've only dreamt of, with clear natural sound in true three-dimensional space. Just add speakers and amplifier for a complete system.

Now imagine this new technology was easy and intuitive to use, no computer science degree required. Spatial software brings together everything in a way that allows you to forget about the computer and focus on the music. Simply play music files in iTunes and Spatial does the rest behind the scenes. Speaker response correction, room correction, vacuum tube emulation and more are all software based to optimize sonic performance with amazing transparency.

The Spatial Computer System's advanced software package runs on any Apple Mac computer with Intel processor. An outboard 24/192 DAC/preamp receives all this digital information via single Firewire or USB cable. Spatial offers a wide range of Firewire-enabled hardware options including hard-drive storage, cabling and remote control. Your Mac front end will arrive fully configured and ready to play.

An industry first is our exclusive remote installation and maintenance service. Spatial includes this service by using remote desktop access technology via your Internet connection. It allows us to remotely set up, assist and upgrade your system. Consistent results and peace of mind are just one mouse click away now.

Hardware options for D-A/preamp functionality include the 4-channel TC Konnekt at $2.995, the 8-channel TC Studio Konnekt 48 (from $3.995), the Apogee Ensemble ($4.995) and finally the Prism Orpheus ($7.995) for multi-channel bi/tri-amp systems. Some of these machines include phono stages, most headphone outputs. These prices are inclusive of the actual Firewire converter with analog domain volume control, the Spatial software installed on your Mac, the measurement microphone with stand and cable and a backup hard drive. Upgrade options include larger hard drives, Raid 1 Twin arrays, server-grade storage options and specific cabling.

Spatial Computer has developed a new kind of solution to the most basic problem in high-end audio. All audio systems have to deal with low-frequency room resonances. Just put the Black Hole in the rear of your room, plug it in and turn it on. It does the rest. The results in any high-resolution system are amazing.

Your room represents a closed resonant tube from an acoustics perspective. The large peaks and adjacent dips shown above are from interference patterns related to the room’s dimensions. The large aberrations in bass frequency response are the result of acoustic energy reflections from the rear wall interacting with the output of the speaker. If we could remove the rear wall, most of the problem would go away, restoring a response similar to the intrinsic response of the speaker itself. The Spatial Black Hole acoustically removes the rear wall. The Black Hole is an active device that measures incoming acoustic energy at the back of the room and propagates an out-of-phase energy pattern to effectively neutralize the resonant behavior of the room and provide much flatter and more natural bass at the listening position. Low-frequency resonant energy also decays slowly in the room, causing poor bass articulation and undesirable build up. By neutralizing resonant energy, the time domain gets much cleaner, providing crisp detailed bass. One Black Hole can neutralize up to 20dB of dips and peaks for a dramatically more effective solution than common tube traps all in small corner-loaded unit. Transformative improvements can be had in 2-channel audiophile applications as well as subwoofer-equipped home theater systems. The Black Hole is loaded with internal measurement and signal processing hardware. A highly accurate massive 12” woofer delivers the neutralizing punch.

We are now selling the Spread Spectrum Technologies line. The new fully balanced Ampzilla 2000 Second Edition power amps ($7.500) and Ambrosia preamp ($7.500) are exceptional and truly world-class performers. Compare these to the best solid-state products made at any price. They are that good. They are now available in black with chrome insert as well as original blue with gold insert. SST products have the 5-year US factory warranty. There was an awesome review in the January 2012 Absolute Sound on the Ampzillas and Ambrosia. The Ampzilla 2000 MK2 and Ambrosia were named 'Product of the Year'.. They said they offered the same performance as super amps selling for $100.000.

They summed up with: "The Ambrosia and Ampzilla are by any standard statement products that can take their place among the finest amps and preamps money can buy. At $15.000 the combo is far from inexpensive though that figure does include two excellent phono preamps and a headphone amplifier. Reflect too, that there are competing electronics exceeding $100.000 that give you far less of everything. To those who find it impossible to believe components priced as reasonably as these can possibly be as good as those costing a whole lot more, I only say "they are. Please audition with your mind as open as your ears." If I were closing up shop tomorrow as a reviewer I would buy them and live happily ever after."

Call me to discuss pricing on these superb amplifiers as well as their preamps and the new soon to be available phono stage.

Ampzilla 2000 MK2: These Second Edition MK2 amps use a new upgraded driver circuit that reduces distortion even below that of the original 2000. It also adds a second set of binding posts for biamplification. Rated power is 300 watts but they typically produce 340 watts into 8 ohms. They will drive any load and do 540 watts at 4 ohms and are stable below 1 ohm. The 12ga power cord is welded on for the best connection. No need to use an expensive aftermarket cord. All the transformers are custom built and designed by James Bongiorno. He is a trained transformer designer and his designs are superb. Real world noise levels are super low.

The Ampzilla 2000 2nd Edition uses a completely new variation of the Forward Gain topology to achieve unprecedented improvements in linearity. The new circuit is so smooth that it can be actually listened to open loop without feedback. The proper use of feedback is necessary simply to tie down all of the operating points so there will be no variations in performance from unit to unit. The Ampzilla 2000 uses 12 250-watt output devices per mono. This is 3 times more than the original Ampzilla. Since it is a monobloc, there is a 2000VA transformer for each. The amount of heat sink radiating area is 3 times greater than the original meaning no fan. The B+ and B- supply fuses now are external. The entire circuit is fully balanced from input to output although there is a unique new unbalanced to balanced converter for single ended inputs. Each monobloc has 100,000uf of power supply filtering with dual rectification as pioneered in the original Sumo's.

16 Ohms - minimum 150 watts 20Hz to 20kHz

The Ambrosia preamp just received an awesome review in the January 2012 Absolute Sound. (We have black as well as blue available and for $5.995 the unit is available without phono stage). The Ambrosia stereo preamp is a superb full featured solid state preamplifier. This 50lbs fully balanced preamp has giant power supplies, one of the best remote controls made and a world-class MM/MC phono stage. It also has excellent tone controls and a balance control.

The user interface is all electronic. There are no physical switches or controls of any kind in the signal path. All functions are 100% microprocessor controlled. All functions can be controlled from both the front panel as well as the remote control. Here are some Dick Olsher quotes from his review in March 2008: "The Ambrosia is a sensation at any price point. Here is a full function preamplifier complete with MM and MC phono capability that for me bridges the sonic gap between solid-state and tube designs. If you already own a tube or hybrid amp, the Ambrosia should prove most complementary... Vinyl playback through the internal moving magnet (MM) stage provided superlative sound quality... The Ambrosia's tone controls gave me the opportunity to tweak the speaker's tonal balance to my liking... The music's harmonic tapestry was remarkably silky and yet exquisitely detailed. The soundstage was solidly fleshed out with an excellent depth perspective and extremely stable image placement. Most telling was the manner in which vinyl surface noise, clicks and pops, were dispensed with... Its low distortion signature and superlative transient response were responsible for a fluid delivery and enhanced clarity." Read the entire review here.

The Ambrosia outweighs many power amplifiers at 50lbs net. Most the weight is due to a huge low EMI power transformer mounted in its own can. It features four secondary windings that are used to power each circuit section independently and in the process eliminate ground loops. In addition 15 independent power supply regulators are employed throughout for immunity against AC mains fluctuations. This is one serious piece of work.
4 completely separate sets of transformer windings which power the four main sections of the preamp. These four sections are moving coil, moving magnet, line, and display and control. Each section in addition has its own multiple regulators (16 regulators in all).
3 main inputs (CD, FM, AUX) plus one combo XLR jack that can be either balanced or unbalanced. Separate tone controls for each channel, both bass and treble, with 4 different inflection points each selectable via main menu.
World’s most exotic power transformer triple shielded with Fe bands plus inter layer grounded shields plus complete mu metal wrap, plus complete seamless Fe can.
Balanced input circuit has an anti common-mode driver to prevent common mode distortion.
Discrete power buffers will drive any headphones known to man. 2 pairs on the front panel. Main outputs are 2 pairs each single ended and balanced.
Complete tape copy and monitor functions for 2 decks.
Completely separate and dedicated inputs and outputs for both MC and MM cartridges (as well as through tape functions). Both phono sections are completely separate each with their own power supply regulators. Each phono section has its own selectable 20Hz low cut filter.
All grounding has been engineered to completely eliminate any possibilities of grounding interference or ground loops.

On the front panel are 5 push button momentary switches and a main optical shaft encoder. These 6 functions are exactly duplicated on the remote control (supplied). The entire operation of the system is menu driven which makes functionality a breeze. Once learned, you’ll never use another preamp without it.

Phono inputs: MC gain 64dB, 58dB, 52dB selectable, MM 42dB
Line: 20dB to plus output, Balanced: 20dB
Maximum output: 10Volts RMS unbalanced
Output impedance: 50 Ohms, all outputs

Tone controls: +/- 12dB nominal
Turnover points: Bass: 200, 300, 400, 500 Hz, Treble: 2kHz, 3kHz, 4kHz, 5kHz nominal
THD: .01% max inputs to main outputs @ 2V RMS rated output, 20Hz to 20kHz.
Frequency Response: Phono, RIAA Equalized, 20Hz to 20kHz, +/- .5dB max deviation: Line, 20Hz to 20kHz, +/- .25dB max deviation.

I am glad to now be selling VMPS speakers. For over 35 years Brian at VMPS has been building some of the highest-value best sounding speakers in the industry. Their speakers compete with those selling for multiples of their prices and reviewers say the same thing: "Make no mistake. At its asking price, the VMPS RM30 provides an overall level of performance that is all but unbeatable. VMPS’s Brian Cheney deserves high praise for his ability to design and market such a remarkable product for under $5.000. I don’t believe it is likely to be embarrassed by any speaker at any price.”

"Have you ever personally heard the RM50? This has to be perhaps the Best $60.000 Loudspeaker money can buy. I must have asked about two dozen show attendees 'guess the price of this loudspeaker?' And of course since I asked, most knew it was a loaded question. Still they estimated the price somewhere in the $50k - $75k category: and this is after walking around and giving the RM50 a really good inspection. Appearance-wise, the look and build of this mighty 375lbs puppy is also quite impressive. Nobody believed me when I said $15 grand!

"The RM50s sounded extremely open and presented a life-sized image with seductive depth. VMPS speakers make me aware of the compression often found in other speakers. It's something we can get used to until we hear something that's dynamically unconstrained. They did not have the diffuse character I often hear in bipole designs. The output of the rear-firing drivers is adjustable and unusual in the use of a waveguide. A digital crossover with room and speaker correction pulls it all together. A great value at $15K for the base version, the RM50 embarrasses some (far) more expensive speakers."

“VMPS has taken what I consider to be one of the finest speakers on the market and made it better! The first RM40 was groundbreaking in its ability to combine imaging, bass response and dynamic capabilities into a single package that sold for $4.200 – $5.400 (depending on the options chosen). At that time it easily outdistanced the ultra-hype speakers touted in so many magazines and cyber web places. There is a reason that many of the speakers considered the darlings of the glossy press don’t show up here – they don’t sound good; at least not when compared to the VMPS RM40. This latest version of the RM40 is better yet. With what was already an exceptional speaker, they have taken the next step musically. They have improved it by refining it in meaningful ways, ways that most speaker manufacturers apparently don’t recognize or a least can’t duplicate. One of the best speakers in the world has just gotten better. This is a Component of Exceptional Merit."

"Sheer madness! The VMPS626Jr represents an insane level of sound quality at its asking price. It all starts with a cast of excellent drivers, remarkably well integrated using a 1st-order series crossover. Throw in a decent cabinet and you end up with a speaker than competes with speakers costing even three times as much. The old adage about good engineering does not cost any more than bad engineering applies here in spades. That push-pull ribbon midrange is something special indeed. My suggestion is to snap up a pair while you can."

All VMPS models use ribbon midranges and ribbon tweeters. These are exceptionally low mass and much faster, transparent and more detailed than standard dome tweeters and cone midranges used in most of the competition. Couple that with their Megawoofers and extremely well made cabinetry and you get excellent speakers that compete with others that sell for far more. More info is available here.

Wyred4Sound manufactures amps, preamp and DACs in Atascadero, California and sells them Internet direct to the end user. Because there are no dealer markups, these products offer tremendous value and sell for a fraction of the price of other brands who use the exact same B&O ICEpower™ modules. Reviews have all been superb. Compare the amps to amps from Rowland, Red Dragon, Genesis,  Bel Canto and many more. Compare the preamps & DACs to the very best out there. Wyred4Sound (formerly Cullen Circuits) has been manufacturing products for many other high-end audio brands since 1990. They have made products for companies such as PS Audio, Ampzilla, BGW and CAT.

The $1.495 Wyred4Sound mINT (mini integrated amp) is a wonderful new 100wpc integrated amp with a fine DAC and headphone amp. We introduced the mINT at the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest where it did a superb job running our Emerald Physics system. We received the Best Reasonably Priced Sound at the show from The Absolute Sound. The mINT is a preamp, power amp, asynchronous DAC and headphone amp in a small high-performance package. It offers superb performance for the price and makes a great center section for a quality hifi system. Just add a pair of speakers and inexpensive CD player or computer as a source.

The mINT may be small but it is big in performance. The volume control is a trueresistive ladder which results in linear control, excellent channel matching and great sonic quality. Rather than passing the signal through a volume pot, the control is only used as a position reference. A soft ramp feature means that when powering the unit on/off or using the mute/un-mute, it increases/decreases the volume at a pleasant rate. The mINT has a 12V DC trigger in and out as well as an external mains voltage switch.

Two analog inputs (auxiliary 1 and 2) are side by side on the rear panel. An alternate function of Aux 2 is home theater bypass and is activated via a push switch on the back. The preamp output will work to run a powered subwoofer. In addition to the preamp out the mINT has a fixed tape out that will typically be used to send a signal to a recording device or feed a second system. An alternate function of the fixed out is a main-in feature that can be used with the preamp output to allow the insertion of a digital crossover or processor into the signal path. This feature can be selected by the “Fixed out/Main in” button located on the rear of the unit next to the HT Bypass selector.

Located top and center of the rear panel you will find three digital inputs, coax, optical and USB powered by an ESS Sabre DAC chip. The S/PDIF inputs will support 24/192 files and the asynchronous USB interface will support 24/96 hi resolution files from your computer. Each digital input can be connected to a different source and selected independently via the remote or input select buttons on the front.

A ¼” headphone jack is machined into the left had side of the front panel. When a headphone is plugged into the jack it will mute the speaker output (other than the fixed outputs) regardless of the input selected or volume level. The headphone amp is impressive and will even run hi-impedance phones. It uses independent power supplies for exceptionally low channel crosstalk, low noise and wide dynamic range that make for true high-fidelity headphone experience.

The mINT is dual mono and uses two independent new X-series ICEpower™ modules each with its own power supply. The new X-series has the best performance of any digital amp from ICEpower. The mINT puts out 100wpc into 8 ohms and 170 watts into 4 ohm loads. It will drive the majority of speakers on the market with ease. The mINT is made in the USA and comes with a 3-year factory warranty.

The new DAC’s from Wyred bring world class performance to realistic price points.
  • DAC1 32-bit DAC with 9018 Sabre chip and 24/96K asynchronous USB input $999
  • DAC2 Reference DAC/Preamp with 24/192K asynchronous USB input $1499

Both the DAC1 ($999)  and DAC2 ($1499) use the ESS 9018 Sabre DAC. This DAC chip is considered by most to be the finest made. It is actually 8 DACs on one chip. Wyred uses 4 DACs per channel. The new review in the Feb 2011 Absolute Sound was a rave. They were shocked at how close the DAC2 at $1495 was to their $6600 reference DAC. The review in 6moons.com on the DAC2 was also a rave. They gave it a Blue Moon award and said: "The value assessment of this assignment has progressed to a predictable conclusion. Being so close in performance to an established $5,000 benchmark—the Weiss Minerva won UltraAudio's Select Component distinction and a Blue Moon award from us—and bundling greater functionality for just $1,500 doesn't, in this context, make Wyred's DAC2 an actual giant killer. It does very much make it a killer value in high-performance digital however." Read the entire review here.

The DAC2 can be used as both preamp and DAC. The DAC1 is a DAC only. Both are fully balanced. The DAC2 uses a 24bit/192k asynchronous USB input.  The DAC1 uses a standard USB input with 24bit/96k input capability. The DAC2 also uses upgraded parts in comparison to the DAC1. Regulators and caps are improved. Both DACs are built around the state-of-the-art ESS 9018 Sabre DAC chip. This chip is an 8-channel DAC that is run dual mono double dual differential to output two balanced channels of audio with almost  nonexistent jitter. The 9018 is considered by most to be the finest DAC chip made at any price. It uses 500kHz oversampling. The output stages use a 35-amp Schottky bridged rectified power supply and has 88,000uf of filter caps. In addition the DAC2 uses Wyred4Sound low ESR supercaps as used in their STP-SE preamp. This power supply is larger than many power amps. Both DACs use a fully balanced design with balanced and single-ended outputs. They both use an oversized toroidal transformer.

Features common to both the DAC 1 and DAC 2 are:
• ESS 9018 Sabre32 Reference DAC (32-bit DAC)
• Wyred4Sound proprietary discrete output stages for optimum sonics
• ESS Time Domain Jitter Eliminator®
• Upgradable digital, output and USB boards (designed for future improvements)
• Automatic 500kHz oversampling for precise output filtering
• Fully balanced design with balanced and unbalanced outputs
• Oversized toroidal transformer
• 2 x coax inputs
• 2 x Toslink inputs
• 115/230v switchable mains
• Compact size (8.5"W x 4.125"H x 13.5"D)

This DAC2 is an upgrade of the DAC-1 and adds the following:
• 24-bit/192kHz asynchronous USB input
• Robust 35A Schottky bridge rectifiers (same as used in the STP-SE)
• Wyred4Sound low ESR super caps (same as used in the STP-SE)
• upgraded VFD display for input, sample rate, volume control and configuration viewing
• Remote controlled preamp capability
• Defeatable - 32 bit volume control
• HT Bypass inputs (selectable via DC trigger)
• 1x AES/EBU input
• 1x Balanced I2S input via HDMI cable (not standard HDMI cable format)
• Proprietary drivers for 32/64 bit Windows XP, 7 and Mac OS 10.4, 10.5 ,10.6

We can ship these internationally into areas without distributors. They are available in 220/240 volt/50Hz for International sales. The DAC-1 and DAC2 are 32-bit multi input DACs that sets new standards in their price ranges. They are only sold Internet direct and would be priced double if we used dealers.

SX mono amplifiers
The SX mono amps are full mono designs in 125, 250 and 570wpc versions. They all double power into 4-ohm loads and are stable into 2 ohms. These amps use the same B&O ICEpower™ modules as other highly reviewed products from Bel Canto, Jeff Rowland, PS Audio and Red Dragon. Wyred4Sound engineers then adds their custom buffered input stage to add warmth and they also modify the modules with upgraded parts. Reviews have all been excellent and all refer to the amazing value and sonics these amps offer.

ST stereo power amplifiers from Wyred 4 Sound

  • ST-1000 570wpc dual mono stereo amplifier $1999
  • ST-500   250wpc dual mono stereo amplifier $1499
  • ST-250   125wpc dual mono stereo amplifier $999

ST stereo amps are full dual-mono designs in 125, 250 and 570wpc versions. They are basically two of the SX mono amps in one chassis at a little lower cost. Like the SX monos they all double in power into 4-ohm loads and are stable into 2 ohms. The only parts shared by the two channels are the box and power cord. In the 1st review of the ST-1000 Jerry in 10Audio.com says: "In Wyred4Sound's ST-1000 stereo amplifier we have a maturing technology that absolutely changes the performance-to-price expectation for solid-state amplifiers in the $2,000 to $10,000 price range. Read the entire review here.

John Potis in Positive Feedback reviewed the smaller ST-500 and summed up with: "...in some ways the Wyred4Sound is a groundbreaking accomplishment that'll bring a new level of power and sophistication to a budget conscious listening audience that could only dream of such performance before." Read the entire review here.

All ST series stereo amps are dual mono designs. The only common parts are the chassis itself and the power cord. The ST-1000 uses the same ICEpower™ modules as the Jeff Rowland $6700 mono amps, the $6000 Red Dragons and $4000 PS Audio. The ST-500 and ST-250 use the same amps as those from Bel Canto, PS Audio and Jeff Rowland. These amps sell for multiples of the cost of the Wyred4Sound models thru dealers.

Wyred4Sound takes these same B&O ICEpower™ amp modules and modifies them to sound even better. Modifications include extensive use of Dale resistors and Muse audiophile-grade capacitors as well as other upgraded parts. The Stereo ST series also feature a custom buffered dual FET input stage designed by Bascom King. This very high-quality input stage has an input impedance of 61k to work with both solid state and tube preamps. You will find all specifications listed below but it is worth noting that these amps have a distortion level below 0.02% and a damping factor of 2000 for tremendous woofer control.

Wyred4Sound STP/SE remote controlled passive/active balanced preamplifier  $1999
The STP/SE brings the same amazing performance for the dollar as the Wyred4Sound power amps that have received such great reviews. I waited over a year for this preamp. It was worth the wait. It is sold direct to the end user with no dealer profit margins. If we used dealers this would be a $4000 - $5000 preamplifier. Reviews have been superb and even compared the STP/SE to $10.000 tube preamps. Call me at 770-667-5633 to discuss.

Feel free to listen to any solid-state preamp and compare sonics as well as features to our STP/SE. I think you will be amazed by its value. The STP is a fully balanced passive design that has an active gain stage that is only used when the volume control is advanced far enough to need it. It has over 164,000uf of power smoothing capacitance. This is far more than most power amplifiers. It is available in both black and silver finishes. Most of the time you are listening to a fully balanced passive preamp run through a custom-designed fully discrete volume control using Dale resistors. The volume control is controlled from the front panel or remote control by an optical rotary encoder. If you're looking for the ultimate in transparency, in an unbelievably accurate preamp with superb dynamics and exceptional imaging then the STP/SE may be for you.

The feature set is amazing.
• The preamp is fully balanced from input to output.
• It has 2 sets of XLR balanced outputs as well as 2 sets of RCA single-ended outputs.
• There are 3 sets of single-ended RCA inputs and 2 sets of balanced XLR inputs.
• It has 12v triggers to activate the home theater pass thru that is customizable for any input.
• There is a balance control
• Absolute phase control
• There is a customizable multichannel pass thru
• Made in Atascadero, California
• Three year factory warranty
• Available in 120 volt US or 230 volt European versions
• Available in black or Silver finish

The STP/SE is the giant killer preamp like the Wyred4Sound amps that have received review comments like: "The Wyred4Sound is a ground breaking accomplishment that'll bring a new level of power and sophistication to a budget conscious listening audience that could only dream of such performance before." See the entire review here.

Also, "the high-end is dead! Long live the high-end! A paradigm shift is upon us now. In the Wyred4Sound ST-1000 stereo amplifier, we have a maturing technology that absolutely changes the performance-to-price expectation for solid-state amplifiers in the $2,000 to $10,000 price range." See the entire review here.

Integrated amplifiers

  • STi-500 250wpc balanced remote integrated amplifier w/HT bypass $1999
  • STi-1000 570wpc balanced remote integrated amplifier w/HT bypass $2499.00
Combining a slightly scaled-down version of the STP preamp and the same proven ICEpower stereo amp modules used in the ST-500 & ST-1000 separate power amplifiers, the new Wyred4Sound integrated amps are true giant killers. Both offer balanced and single inputs as well as a home theater pass thru. They have balance and phase control on the remote controls. Compare these amps to others selling at multiples of their price as they offer superb value. The STi-500 is $1999 and offers 250wpc into 8 ohms (550 wpc into 4 ohms), the STi-1000 is $2499 and boosts output power to 570wpc (1,100wpc into 4 ohms).

Some review excerpts on Wyred4Sound integrateds: "...As for me, I know a great deal when I hear one. I’m buying this STI-500 and it will be staying put in my reference system for the foreseeable future. It’s been my pleasure to see and evaluate this well-built USA-made product that not only competes with but actually outperforms both imported and domestic products in and above its price range. Happy Listening!" - full review here.

"...The STI-500 is very green, extremely good sounding, built to last, and very convenient. I have failed to acknowledge how much I like the preamplifier section for its flexibility and convenience since it just does its job without drawing attention to itself. In truth this amplifier doesn't draw any attention to itself with anything other than its exceptional sound. If Class D amps like the STI-500 are the future, then the future is going to be wonderful..." - full review here.

"...For years serious hifi has traditionally meant separates. Wyred4Sound has challenged that preconception with a no-compromise single box solution which gives little ground to any separate dynamic duo (and made this proposition temptingly affordable). This is a serious effort and in the right system the STI 1000 will perform with a vengeance that belies its size. Powerful, efficient, musical - separation anxiety? Perhaps it’s time the masses embraced integration." - full review here.

There are high performance multi channel amps are attract ice prices.

MC multi channel power amplifiers
The MC multi channel platform offers the ultimate flexibility. With anywhere from 1 to 7 channels and power levels of 250 or 570W (8 ohms), this amplifier design adapts to your stereo or multi-channel system. Because of the modular design, future upgrades are done with ease should you not need all 7 channels at the present time. Each channel is driven with an independent direct coupled balanced dual FET input buffer. Components of the highest quality are being used from the power supply caps to the critical resistors. Wima audio-grade, Nichicon Muse caps and Dale Rn55d copper leads non-magnetic resistors are standard. With the selection of the high-pass filter on the front right and left channels, you can easily bi-amp your speakers without the use of any external crossover. Should you not want the crossover on, you can turn it off with the push of a button. With balanced or unbalanced inputs you can easily select the input with another push button on the rear. Dual 15A IECs, internally connected with 10AWG wire, gives you the option to supply massive power to the amplifier and also allows the use of after-market power cables. Up to 7 sets of gold-plated binding posts are connected with pure silver paralleled with 99.9% OFC copper to deliver the music which we have all come to love.

In the August 2008 Ultimate AV review David Vaughn sums up his MC amp review with: "During my time with this amp I have been in audio heaven. When I review a product I usually look forward to placing my own equipment back in my rack but that wasn't the case here. After I reinstalled my Anthem, I instantly missed the Wyred4Sound, and I immediately put it on my short list of upgrades—it's that good." Read the entire review here.

Like all Wyred4Sound amps, the MC amplifiers have little to no heat, excellent imaging, extremely low noise, tight clean extended bass and throw a big 3D soundstage. Distortion is exceptionally low. Check the prices below. They are about half that of the competition or even less. With an infinite number of possible amp combinations almost anything is possible from 5 or 7 channel home theater to biamping or even triamping your speakers.

MC  amp pricing
250 x 3 $2,295 | 500 x 3 $2,895

Mini MC
multi channel amplifiers·
• 3-ch- 220wpc with 360 watts into 4 ohms  $1795
5-ch  220wpc with 360 watts into 4 ohms  $1995
7-ch  220wpc with 360 watts into 4 ohms  $2395

The small chassis Mini MC amplifiers are fully balanced 220 watts/ch multichannel power amps in 3, 5 or 7 channel versions.  We can also supply these in 220/240 volt versions for international sales in countries without a distributor. The Mini MC is available in 3, 5 and 7 channels. The amp has balanced input and produces a robust 220 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 360 into 4 ohms with 430 watt peaks. The amplifier is a true multi-mono design, each channel completely independent from input to output. The only thing they share is the power cord and chassis.

There are separate inputs for balanced or unbalanced connections that are easily selected by a switch on the rear of the unit. The input stage was designed for optimum sonics maintaining fully differential operation from inputs to output. It also optimizes the input impedance for all sources so tube or solid state preamps can be used with this amp. The amplifier includes a trigger input and output, rear panel on off switch and a dimmable blue power indicator.

The Mini MC is based on one of the newest Icepower modules the ASX-125. The efficiency exceeds 90% in both amplifier and power supply sections, which secures cool operation and enhances product reliability. Combined with the low idle consumption, which is 5 to 10 times lower than in comparable Class AB amplifier assemblies, the ASX2 solutions are a responsible choice when caring for the environment.

Each amplifier channel has its own power supply to allow 220 watts in any configuration. All models produce 220 watts, at 8 ohms, into all channels simultaneously, and 360 watts into a 4 ohm load. There are 3, 5 or 7 mono amps in one chassis. The amps have the standard Wyred 4 Sound 3-year factory warranty and are made in their California factory. They are only sold Internet Direct and have no dealers to keep the cost down. Feel free to compare these amps to others selling for two times their price.
