Sonic changes of the Level-2 mod: The unit is quieter, the silences are blacker, thus resolving more low level detail, ambience and three dimensionality.
It is much more detailed while also more dynamic. It seems to play louder while keeping that beautiful EL-34 midrange liquidity.
Tonal balance is more eve.from lows to highs in addition to the amazingly liquid midrange of the stock machine.
Imaging is better and more defined while bass is dramatically improved. It has full weight and authority, not flubby "one note" bass. It sounds much more like solid-state in this area

The Jolida JD-1000RC is an upgrade from the older basic JD-1000a. It adds a beautiful new look with a large window in front. In addition, the RC model has remote control as well as a preamp/sub outs, upgraded parts quality and a tape out. It also adds Simple Bias. This new bias system can be done without a meter in under a minute. It is better than auto bias as it does not limit power. Home Theater bypass is an option.
The 1000RC uses four EL-34 output tubes per channel for 100 watts per channel of big tube power. The stock amp is a real deal at its $2400 price. Our Level-2 mod makes this amp a killer. It is now competitive with all comers under $5000. If you have been looking at tubes but thought that you could not find a great high-powered answer for your budget, look no further. The stock JD-1000RC is a good performer but the modified unit is a giant killer.
This mod is fully covered by the 2-year Jolida factory warranty. The mod was designed by Chris Johnson, founder and former president of Sonic Frontiers.
The following describes the JD-1000RC Level-2 mod [$1000 retrofit + freight; $2,790 for pre-modified new units + freight:
- Replacement of the stock"Chinese Jolida input/driver tubes with Russian ELECTRO-HARMONIX 12AX7 (2) and 12AT7 (2)

- We can ship these in 240 volts for worldwide use.

Sonic changes of Mini modification
The modded amp is 60% of our Level-2 mod and will outperform any hi-power integrated that we have heard for under $3,500. It is more harmonically correct than most solid-state amps at any price.
Quieter.... the silences are blacker, thus resolving more low level detail, ambience and three dimensionality.
It is more detailed while also more dynamic. It seems to play louder.
Tonal balance is more even from lows to high .in addition to the amazingly liquid midrange of the stock machine.
Imaging is crisper and more defined while bass is dramatically improved. Better weight and authority, not flubby "one note" bass. Sounds more like solid-state in this area.
With 100 big tube watts and 150 watts at 1KHz, the modified JD-1000RC will drive almost any speaker. It uses less than 5dB of feedback and sounds great with a big 3D soundstage. Compare it to the $4000 amps from CJ, ARC and others that only put out 45-50 watts and you will understand its value at double the power and half their price.

Owner Feedback
Wally,
I want to let you know how pleased I am with the modified Jolida CD player. I ordered it from you on Friday and it came that Monday. Thanks. As far as the sound goes, it sounds much better than my Ah Tjoeb player which is a very good player in itself, but the Jolida has a much better midrange, better bass - it's smoother, much more musical. I also have a Class A Stereophile Sony 555ES SACD player which is not even close to the Jolida. The Sony is less of a player than the Ah Tjoeb. The Jolida is far superior to both. This JD-100 has dramatically improved my Klipschorn speakers. Thanks again. Oh I forgot to ask you, does the Jolida need to burn in?
It is hard to imagine it getting better. I hope to buy more products from you in the future.
Jim L.
Hello Wally,
The JD-100 has been running about 20 hours now. It has a nice sound and is getting better. It already sounds better than my Sony SACD 777ES, CD-only of course. Nice doing business with you. Will leave you a + feedback. Maybe you could do the same?
Thanks again,
JK
Wally,
I received the JD-100A. It arrived a few hours ago and I've been spending that time stacking it up against my Cambridge Audio D500SE and a Rega Planet 2000. My inital impression? No contest! This player sounds *fantastic* in my system. I can't wait to get it broken in and start some tube rolling in it! Thanks very much for a smooth, professional transaction and a fine product. Positive feedback on AudiogoN is coming your way.
Doug
Just received my modified Jolida JD-100. Right out of the box it sounded great. Build quality is exceptional, relaxed dynamics, big sound stage and effortless presentation. Love it. Going to listen some more.
Thanks again,
Ted L.

Hi Walter,
Just a quick note on the Jolida.First impressions are very good! That is after only an hour warm-up, with middle-of-the-road interconnects and stock power cord. Got some smooth-plate NOS Telefunken's on the way, just out of curiosity. Next is a better PC and ICs. Looks like good old 16 bit/44.1kHz is finally living up to its promise.
Best regards,
John S.
Walter,
I just wanted to drop you a line after I've listened to the Jolida JD-100 for several days. Right out of the box, the Jolida beat the Rega Planet 2000 hands-down. I mean literally. I hooked both units up to my VTL 5.5 and loaded the same CD in each and fired them both up. I began switching between the Rega and the Jolida and there was no comparison. The Jolida opened the room up, the highs were more detailed and the bass was full and engaging. The midrange was beautiful.
My next step was to pit the Jolida up against my Linn Sondek LP12. Whenever I have compared the Linn turntable with a CD player in the past, there was always a distinct difference between the analog presentation and the CD. The analog would always deliver more information and detail, with significant improvement in the bass. When I began the same A/B test between the Linn and the Jolida, I was amazed at how similar the Jolida's presentation was to the LP12. I am finding it difficult to distinguish one from the other except for the clicks and pops of analog.
Thanks again for this recommendation and I look forward to seeing how the Jolida can really perform after it breaks in.
Hi Walter,
I received the unit on Thursday. Went out of town until this morning. After spending the day with it, wow!.What can I say, it is heads above the A-3 and the other players I have had ( Meridian 506.24, 508.2, Classe .5 etc.).What bass, smooth. I am running an MFA tube amp, a Classe DR-6 and a pair of speakers I made, ( a single 10" Hartley 220HS woofer in a 3.5 cu. ft. vented box 1 1/2" thick, lined with sheet lead, no coil, just a solen cap on a Danish-made Hyquphon 3/4" dome). I get chills up my spine when listening. Lots of air around all the instruments, not just the soloists. The player does not sound like a CD player, very analog. Thanks for all your help. You know your stuff and provide the best service! I will recommend the player to all that will listen.
Thanks again, I know we will do business again.
Jim

New JD300B no-compromise mod
Our design goal was to take this $2,300 amp and make it as good as the competition that sells for up to $8000. Price for the mod was not the issue, performance the only goal. We use only the very best of parts and the end result is an amazing remote-controlled 300B integrated amp that you have to hear to believe. Quoting from its first review, we learn:
"... Surveying the scene of 300B amps I know about, the Jolida JD300B Level-2 is clearly fabulous value considering its build quality, functionality and extremely low self-noise. Its resolving power should be well suited for the kind of financially matched front-ends that are likely to become its mates. The very non-finnicky, wide-angle remote worked flawlessly. Its inclusion predicts far more open doors for this affable 300B integrated than were this feature missing. It has, after all and rightly so, become nearly de rigeur in the real world. Listeners who sympathize with my expressed sonic biases are advised to experiment with intrinsically fast and neutral -- or even slightly lean -- cables. They'll balance against the amp's obvious body and density. Those listeners who adore 300Bs for what they do with such particular panache will love the Jolida as is. Because of its numerous inputs, you can build a rather complex system around it...
In the $2.5 - 3.5K range, the options for integrateds are larger than ever, both for solid-state and tubes. But as soon as you narrow down the tube choices to 300Bs, things get rather skinny. Demand remote control to boot and they become outright barren. If this budget range is you as is a lustful Jones for this 'king of triodes', today's custom-modified Jolida -- or perhaps even its stock version -- finally give you something to play with. And once you have played with it, you might call it exactly what you had been looking for all along..."

| Over the last year, we have sold over 150 of our Level-1 modified Jolida JD-100's. The unit has received a superb review and the reviewer even bought the review sample for his own system. During this time, I have been consistently asked if we were going to offer a Level-2 mod for the unit. The Level-1 was designed to offer the most bang for the buck and is a steal at only $1240.00 for a new, modified unit. We are now offering a Level-2 mod. |
The Level-2 mod adds ultra hi-quality parts that are never the most cost effective but are the best sounding available. It also uses the best sounding tubes that we can find for the unit, a pair of Gold Pin EH 12AX7 tubes. If the Level-1 is a 50% improvement over the stock unit, the Level-2 adds an additional 20-25% to that. Midrange quality is improved, bass authority is much upgraded. The unit is quieter and low level detail is also improved. Overall, the musicality of the unit reaches the next level and I sometimes actually think it's as good as quality vinyl. The Level-2 modified JD-100 is superb and now competitive with far more expensive machines. |
Sonic benefits of our Level-1 mod:
- Greatly improved signal-to-noise ratio. The silences are blacker for enhanced low level detail, ambience retrieval & three-dimensionality.
